Our Story

Our Story

Vinkara's tale dates back to the 1960s when the group purchased land in the Kalecik region in Ankara. With over 20 years of experience in the construction business in the USA market, the group's first generation owners decided to invest in land in the Anatolian region due to the quality of Anatolian soil and viniculture potential. As a result, Vinkara's venture into viniculture began in 2003-2004 with the cultivation of their vineyards on 22 acres of land. The company's goal was to develop and carry centuries-old tradition of viniculture into the future in Kalecik by employing contemporary resources. As a result in 2005 , the company invested in an additional 36 acres of land, increasing the size of their vineyards to 58 acres.

In 2006, besides the first experimental production of 250,000 liters of wines, the newly purchased 37 acres were cultivated. In 2008, we realized our first harvest and in 2009 we increased our production capacity and invested in a closed press system. In the 4th quarter of 2009 , Vinkara met for the very first time with consumers via our sales and marketing activities. In 2010 , we added another 9 acres to our vineyards. At the end of 7 years, we left behind a very important period in viniculture: our vineyards were totally acclimated with the soil and we were producing top quality products. Today, Vinkara has vineyards and production facilities on 200 acres of land. The first priority at Vinkara is to develop and produce Kalecik Karası, Öküzgözü, Boğazkere and Narince grapes, all native grapes of Anatolia. Additionally, we process the internationally known grapes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Riesling at our production facility which has a capacity to produce 1,3 million liters of wine. We use cooling tanks with the latest in state of the art technology and our wines are aged in French oak barrels in our wine caves.

At our laboratory located on premises at our facility, we scrutinize every step of the production of the grapes, wine making process and bottling to ensure Vinkara wines high quality and standards.

In 2008, Italian wine producer and oenologist Signor Marco Monchiero joined our group. With his expertise and guidance, with confident steps, our goal is to further develop and expand our wines on the international platform.

Vinkara's objective is not to just reach a limited audience, but rather a larger audience of wine consumers. Our goal is to carry our objective to an attainable platform whereby wine consumption becomes a daily routine for consumers.
